Florida Healthcare Simulation Alliance

Gordon Center & FHSA Partner to Deliver Simulation Education throughout the State

Throughout the 2014-15 academic year, the Gordon Center provided iSim fundamentals courses in three regions of the state utilizing the regional training centers and network of FHSA. The courses targeted Florida healthcare educators who want to implement or enhance the use of simulation in their educational programs and to improve their instructional skills. Special effort was given to serve historically under-resourced disciplines in emergency medical services and nursing at Florida's state and community colleges.

The Gordon Center entrance The Gordon Center was established by Dr. Michael S. Gordon for the application of advanced technology to medical education. Harvey®, the Cardiopulmonary Patient Simulator, is a full-size manikin that realistically simulates nearly any cardiac disease, including blood pressure, breathing, pulses, heart sounds and murmurs. The UMedic® series of programs are among the most advanced multimedia computer teaching systems in all of medical education. Our Division of Prehospital and Emergency Healthcare has developed curricula and trained students and emergency responders in the skills of cardiac care, trauma, stroke, airway, pediatrics, and disaster response. The Center carries out published research and offers research fellowships. Our curricula are developed by an international multicenter consortium of physicians and educators. Over 2000 medical centers and agencies worldwide use the educational systems we have created.
